About Code Quest
The story behind the Engine
The future needs more than smart technology. It needs thoughtful people.

Children are growing up in a world where a machine can answer a question, generate a picture, or write a story in seconds.
But who teaches them to ask, “Is it true? Is it fair? Who could this hurt? Do I have permission?”
That is why Code Quest exists.
Code Quest: The Ethics Engine brings artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital citizenship into an adventure where children’s choices matter. Through relatable characters and meaningful dilemmas, young readers practice protecting information, questioning what they see, considering others, and speaking up.
The technology powers the adventure. The children give it direction.
“AI is artificial. You are the intelligence.”

Meet Teri Green
Technology leader. Author. A believer in what children can become.
Teri Green has built her career helping organizations navigate technology, cybersecurity, and the human decisions behind both. As a technology executive and founder of LITE Technology Solutions, she understands that a powerful system is only part of the equation. People need the confidence and judgment to use it responsibly.
She created Code Quest to bring that lesson to the next generation.
Her vision is personal: children should see themselves as thinkers, builders, and protectors of their digital world. They deserve stories where curiosity is encouraged, differences are valued, and asking a difficult question can be an act of courage.
Through Ty, Leo, Kiki, and Ellie, Teri makes complex ideas approachable without making children’s questions feel small.
Her message to every learner is simple:
Your voice belongs in the conversation. Your choices carry power. You can help shape what comes next.
The Code Crew
One adventure. Five guiding values.
At Sparks Elementary, the Code Crew encounters challenges that ask more of them than technical skill. Together, they discover how to put five values into action.
- Fairness
- Ask whose perspective is missing and whether everyone is being treated with care.
- Privacy
- Protect personal information and think carefully about what you share.
- Truth
- Look for evidence, check the source, and stay curious when something seems certain.
- Kindness
- Consider the person on the other side of the screen.
- Consent
- Ask permission. Respect boundaries. Understand that access does not equal approval.
These values give children a shared language for decisions they encounter online, at school, and with one another.
EQ × IQ
Where thinking meets empathy
Knowing an answer is one part of learning. Deciding what to do with it is another.
A child might notice that a screenshot is misleading. Will they also recognize how sharing it could hurt someone?
They might know that AI can make mistakes. Will they pause to check before trusting its response?
The Ethics Engine’s EQ × IQ approach brings thinking skills and people skills into the same learning experience. It connects verification and reasoning with perspective-taking, empathy, and responsible action.
Our purpose is to help learners practice these skills and give adults meaningful opportunities for conversation and support. Learning indicators describe evidence from activities; they are not standardized intelligence tests or mental-health assessments.
We want children to leave with more than an answer. We want them to understand their choices.
From the page to the next decision
The book introduces the adventure. The curriculum helps families and educators explore its ideas together. The portal extends the experience through interactive learning.
Across these experiences, the invitation stays the same:
Investigate. Ask questions. Consider others. Choose thoughtfully.

Frequently asked questions
What age is Code Quest for?
The book is designed primarily for students in grades 3–8. Families and educators can guide discussion based on each learner’s reading level, experience, and support needs.
Do I need the book to use the curriculum?
The curriculum is designed to connect with the Code Quest story. Check your selected package for the included digital book, learning materials, portal access, and license duration.
Where do students log in?
Students enter through the Student Portal using the access instructions provided by their teacher, parent, or homeschool educator. Families and educators can also explore the portal’s labeled Judge Demo with fictional sample data.
How can my school join?
Use the School Pilot form to tell us about your grade levels, approximate enrollment, and learning goals. We will follow up about availability, implementation, and the appropriate package. Please do not include student names, records, or sensitive information in your inquiry.
Does the platform measure my child’s IQ or diagnose emotional wellbeing?
No. The EQ × IQ approach connects thinking and social-emotional learning skills. Activity evidence can support educational conversations, but it does not replace a qualified professional’s assessment or establish a diagnosis.
Can I sponsor a classroom or school?
Yes. Contact us about supporting access to books or learning experiences for a classroom or school. We will confirm the package, recipient arrangements, and fulfillment details before a commitment is made.
Are contributions tax-deductible?
Do not assume a payment is tax-deductible. Purchases, sponsorships, and charitable donations can receive different tax treatment. Any eligible charitable giving arrangement should identify the receiving organization and provide the applicable documentation.
Privacy and trust
Children deserve thoughtful learning experiences and careful handling of their information.
Please use public contact, pilot, and sponsorship forms for adult inquiries. Do not submit student names, education records, health information, or other sensitive details through these forms.
Before using the student portal, review its privacy notices and the access arrangements provided by your school or family. External retailers and community platforms have their own privacy policies.
For questions about information handling, contact contact@theethicsengine.com. Read the full Privacy & Trust page.
